OVERVIEW

Founded in 1940, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) is one of China's leading national universities, consistently recognized under the "211 Project," "985 Project," and "Double First-Class" initiatives. BIT specializes in science and engineering, with balanced development in other disciplines, including management and the humanities, with many of its disciplines ranking among the top 10 in China. In the 2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings(THE), BIT is placed between 201-250. The university continues to enhance its global standing, having achieved the top spot for Higher General Education Accreditation for International Students in China. Today, BIT hosts a vibrant student body that includes more than 3,400 international students from 152 countries.

Yangtze Delta Region Academy of Beijing Institute of Technology (Jiaxing) is jointly established by BIT and the Jiaxing Municipal People's Government. Located in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, the Institute features modern and world-class facilities, advanced research platforms, and beautiful environment. It is dedicated to serving the coordinated economic and social development of the Yangtze River Delta region, enhancing public well-being, and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Institute serves as a key base for BIT's "Double First-Class" initiative and its international development strategy. The Institute has brought together a high-level research team of over 380 members, combining both full-time and part-time expertise, with more than 200 full-time staff. It has attracted and cultivated over 20 national-level and provincial-level high-tier talents, with more than 90 postdoctoral fellows currently on board, over 270 graduate student supervisors, and has enrolled and stationed over 1,400 master's and doctoral students across 23 academic disciplines.

    Program Structure

    Ointly cultivated in Beijing and Jiaxing. Graduate students spend their first year at the BIT Beijing campus for coursework, then transfer to the Jiaxing academy for research from the second year onward.
